ONE OF THE GREAT
CURVE BENDERS
Cherokee is an
extraordinary bull. The breed's most heavily used sire for three
years in a row, he is certainly its most influential sire. He is
The Gold Standard for the breed. ABS's comments on
Cherokee pretty well sum him up. "He is the Breed's Most
Complete Performance and Carcass Sire...His progeny are in
demand for their added thickness, performance, and carcass
traits....He is the complete answer to moderate frame, addition
of muscle, and improvement of rib eye with increased marbling."
A curve bender
from birth to yearling, Cherokee's YW EPD of 65 puts him in the
top 32% of the breed, yet he has a -.6 EPD for BW, and is in the
top half of the breed for CED. What is even more remarkable is
that he combines these highly accurate growth EPDs with a ME EPD
of 1 (top 19%)! He is in the top 28% for Marbling, and is the
#11 bull in the breed for REA , the top 1%.
Cherokee's
progeny are all similar - moderate in frame, long, deep and well
muscled. His daughters are lovely, moderate framed cows with
excellent udders. His 2006 daughters at BUF CRK were 7% above
average at weaning, and 4% above at yearling.
Cherokee sold in 1998 to Leachman Cattle Co., and
is owned with them. |
