Romeo, in the words
of ABS is "Exceeding His Superstar Expectations." In 2007 he was
the third most heavily used bull in the breed, He excels in most
categories.
Romeo was our high
gaining bull in 2001-02. On a test designed for a 3# ADG, Romeo
gained 5.13 lbs./day.
With a tremendous
birth to yearling spread, Romeo has a YW EPD of +70, (23%) yet his
BW EPD is -1.4(25%). He is in the top 33% and 10% for the
antagonistic traits of Direct and Maternal Calving Ease. He is in
the top 1% of the breed for Stayability, top 7% for Maintenance
Energy, and top 11% for Marbling.
Romeo's progeny are
moderate in size and are very fertile. Like their sire, they are
efficient, and are excellent converters of feed, having above
average gain. His 2006 calves averaged 80 lbs at birth, and were 2%
above average at Weaning. His 2006 sons averaged 104 at Weaning,
were our high gaining sire group and were 106 at Yearling.
Romeo's dam, BUF
CRK Primrose 5679, (DON. K), is a lovely, feminine, very correct
Canyon daughter with a great deal of depth, breadth, and a beautiful
udder. Romeo's daughters are wonderful brood cows, with the same
maternal, broody look and carry the same depth and capacity.. Making
up one of our largest sire groups, the 2006 heifer calves of his
daughters in production had a gain that was 4% above average, and
were 101 at yearling.
